Rocker Bret Michaels will perform at St. Petersburg’s Grand Prix car race

The high-decibel sport of IndyCar racing will bring glam metal rocker and Poison frontman Bret Michaels to perform during the weekend of action for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

The show will happen Saturday, March 9, after the racing ends. It will be held within the festival grounds on the plaza south of the Mahaffey Theater and will include an opening act to be announced at a later date, an announcement from organizers said.

Michaels will be performing solo, but he has typically played a roster of Poison hits when he has performed solo shows in the Tampa Bay area in the past, such as “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Nothin’ but a Good Time” and “Talk Dirty To Me.”

Event tickets are on sale at gpstpete.com. If you just want to see the concert, a single-day ticket is $45, providing access to the day’s racing and the concert that evening. A three-day weekend pass starts at $70.

This is the 20th year that the Grand Prix has kicked off the IndyCar season with a race through the streets of downtown St. Petersburg. It will be held March 8-10 and will be televised by NBC Sports. All races also will be streamed on Peacock.
